Najee Harris Awarded Nation’s Best Running Back Award

Antioch High School’s Harris receives prestigious national award from the Atlanta Touchdown Club.

Najee Harris has been given the 2016 Bobby Dodd National High School Back of the Year award. Among one of the nation’s oldest high school national football awards, since 1987 the Atlanta Touchdown Club has been honoring the nation’s best high school back. The Antioch High School graduate is in excellent company, sharing this prestigious award with past recipients, Rick Mirer, Chris Walsh, Peyton Manning, LaVar Arrington and Leonard Fournette.

Harris now enrolled at the University of Alabama, finished his Antioch High School career with 7,947 career yards, fourth in California history, according to Cal-Hi Sports. His total was 2,775 as a senior, after 165 yards as a freshman, 2,263 as a sophomore and 2,744 as a junior. He had 99 touchdowns for his career (94 rushing and five receiving). A first-team ALL-USA selection, Harris was ranked as the No. 1 player in the class by Rivals and Scout.
